Basketball court: construction completed!

The Town of Sutton is proud to announce that work on the new basketball court at
Goyette-Hill Park was completed last week! This new sports court was partly financed by the $15,000 grant received in 2022 when Sutton was crowned the Most active community in Quebec as part of ParticipAction’s Community Better Challenge.

Work on the new basketball court began in autumn 2023 with the installation of the concrete slab. In spring 2024, the playing surface was laid, along with the baskets.

A placefor Sutton’s youth

The addition of the basketball court is directly in line with the 2023-2027 action plan of the new Family and Seniors Policy. Public consultations indicated a clear need for new infrastructures and activities, particularly in the interests of teenagers.

To make it a welcoming and unifying sports court that brings youth together and encourages encounters and exchanges, colorful furniture was installed last week, finalizing the layout. All that remains is to add plants to the flower boxes, which will be done very soon!

Inauguration

Many of you are already enjoying the court, and we hope that the addition of the furniture will make it an even more attractive and enjoyable space. To mark the construction of this new sports court, an official inauguration will be held in October. More details will follow on what is sure to be a festive event! Stay tuned.
