Winter Pleasures 2018 – CANCELED

Unfortunately, given the rainy and mild temperatures of the next days, the Winter Pleasures event of March 3, 2018 is canceled.

Thank you for your understanding.

However, every day during spring break, the Town will be offering free gym activities for the whole family at the Sutton school gymnasium. Note that children aged from 7 years old and under must be accompanied by a person aged 14 and over.

Winter Pleasures 2018 – March 3, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free activities  from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
Skating, snowshoeing, hockey (free use of skates and snowshoes on site), sliding on snow, painting on the snow and building a snowman, etc…
* New this year – Try a Fatbike (for ages 12 and up)

Free hot dog : from noon to 1  p.m.
Free maple syrup on the snow : from 1 p.m. to 3  p.m.
Free snacks available: Coffee, hot apple juice, hot chocolate.

Information to follow

The Town must postpone the Winter Pleasures event to Saturday, March, 3, 2018.
The Town cannot incur expenses regarding this activity until the budget is adopted on January 29th, 2018.
We shall have to take the time necessary therefore to organize this event.

Outdoor skating rink – Information

It is now possible to find up-to-date information on the Goyette-Hill Park outdoor skating rink on the Town of Sutton’s website, at the bottom left, by clicking on the “Outdoor skating Rink” button. Information on the opening and closing of the skating rink and the ice path will be updated based on the information provided to us by the contractor responsible for the maintenance of the skating rink.

Volunteer Appreciation Evening

On November 16, the Sutton Volunteer Appreciation Evening was held. This evening aims to thank and acknowledge the contributions of volunteers in our community. Nearly 100 people attended the evening, held at Les Rochers Bleus Golf Club.

The Town wanted to make specific honorable mentions for the good moves made in the community during the last two years. A call to the people was made to find the volunteer and the organization of the year. Here is the list of prizes awarded:

Volunteer of the year and organization of the year

We all know a volunteer who is very involved and an organization that stands out. Help us find the volunteer of the year and the organization of the year! You are invited to fill out the nomination form and share the information so that there are as many people as possible to complete it. The awards will be presented at the Volunteer Recognition Night in November.

Excellence Award awarded to the Town of Sutton

At its annual Conference, held in Drummondville under the theme “Creativity! The challenge for innovative municipalities“, the Association québécoise du loisir municipal (AQLM) awarded its Excellence Award for the year 2017

The aim of the AQLM’s raward program is to promote the municipal recreation and acknoledge those who work in this field. The AQLM thus highlights the initiatives of municipalities and municipal boroughs in the area of recreation and supports the development of skills and new knowledge in this field. Futhermore, the award program focuses on the ground-breaking and valuable work of municipal recreation professionnals.

10 Otium trophies were awarded at the 2017 Excellence awards. Nearly 55 applications had been submitted in all categories.

The Town of Sutton is proud to have received one of the Otium trophies for the Goyette-Hill park project in the following category: Municipalities 10 000 inhabitants or less.

Skating rink schedule

Skating rink 2016-2017

Please note that the outdoor skating rink, located at Goyette Hill Park is now open. The schedule is as follows: every day from 7am to 8 pm depending on the wheather.

Since there are renovations to the main chalet in the park, access to the skating rink is via the second parking lot. The skaters building is still open. Thank you for your understanding.
