The Cowansville Ecocentre opened twice in October

You will find by this link the Cowansville Ecocentre schedule which is exceptionally open twice in October.

Filtex : weekly update – September 9 to 13, 2019

  • Removal of concrete slabs and the foundations of buildings 1, 2 and 7;
  • Removal of cement reinforcing steel;
  • 65 truckloads of cement sent to the Mont-Echo municipal site where it will be crushed for future use by the Town;
  • Six loads of metal disposed of by the contractor and two loads of demolition debris sent to the subsurface solid waste containment site near Cowansville;

Come talk with Mrs. Johanne Seymour on the occasion of the Journées de la culture and learn more about her career and the profession of author.

Johanne Seymour is the author of Rinzen: la beauté intérieure, the second opus of the Gyatso series released in the fall of 2018 and finalist of the Arthur Ellis 2019 award for the best French-language crime novel. In addition to her novels, she has written four short stories.

She is also the founder of the International Festival of Police Literature, The Deadly Spring of Knowlton (2012-2016).

Filtex : weekly update – September 3 to 6, 2019

  • The demolition of building 7 next to the railway line, was completed.
  • All Filtex structures have now been demolished.
  • No damage was incurred to the infrastructure surrounding the demolition site. Congratulations to the operators of the 2 mechanical excavator.
  • Four containers of demolition debris were transported to the subsurface solid waste containment site operated by the RIGMRBM near Cowansville.
  • 5 containeers of metal waste were sent for recycling.
  • All artifacts relating to the former Filtex factory have now been recovered.
  • The security fence now surrounds the entire perimeter of the demolition site.
  • A representative of the CMQR railway company has been present at the demolition site to ensure railway safety.

Public notice – End of boil water advisory

Please be advised that the precautionary boil water advisory of September 4th, 2019, at 10:00 pm is lifted because the flowmeters were successfully replaced today without risk to drinking water quality.

It is no longer necessary to boil the water before consumption.

Closure of the pool at Goyette-Hill Park

Since we are awaiting the water quality results of the pool water and because of the expected cool temperatures of this weekend, the pool is officially closed for this season.

  • The demolition of building number 5, next to the railway line, was completed.
  • Half of building number 7, also next to the railway line and the last remaining structure, was demolished.
  • Eleven containers of demolition debris were transported to the subsurface solid waste containment site operated by the RIGMRBM near Cowansville.
  • Ten containers of metal waste were sent for recycling.
  •  Artifacts relating to the former Filtex factory were saved and relocated by Town employees.
