Opening of the regional Ecocenter in Cowansville on April 20, 2020

By this link (in French only), you will find the press release on: The opening of the regional Ecocenter in Cowansville on April 20. It will open on April 20 from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on specific days by municipality.

Water system rinsing

Every year, Town of Sutton has to carry out rinsing operations on the aqueduct system, which usually starts at mid-April and ends in July. This one-way rinsing procedure must be done on an annual basis, in order to remove sediments from the pipeline network, ensure the quality of drinking water and to maintain the system in good condition (fire hydrants, valves, pipelines, etc.)  It is important to understand that the water system rinsing operation is done sector by sector, which explains why it extends over several weeks.

This operation can cause the water to look temporarily cloudy or yellowish. If this happens, run the (cold) water in your tub or sink before using until it becomes clear again. It is not recommended to do laundry during this period. Do not use household bleach or cleaning agent throughout this period because it may stain clothing.

Subscribe now to our public alerting system CITAM to receive notifications by text messaging, email or voice message about the rinsing of the water system. Rinsing operations will also be published on the Town’s website and Facebook page.

We apologize for any potential inconvenience.

Drinking water compliant

Please be advised that following the precautionary boil of water advisories of April 6th and 7th 2020, we had the water analysed by a laboratory and the results indicate that everything is in conformity.

It is no longer necessary to boil the water before consumption.

Thank you for your cooperation.
