The Town of Sutton wishes to inform its citizens that work will be carried out on Route 139 at the intersection of Dyer road.

Closed and detour

Identification of work:

Connection to aqueduct and town sewer systems

These hindrances may be altered or canceled due to changes in operation or weather conditions.

The Town of Sutton wishes to inform its citizens that work will be carried out by the Ministère des Transports on Route 139.

Starting date:

May 13th, 2019

End of work:

May 31st, 2019

Direction:

West and East

Location:

Between Route 104 (Knowlton road) in Brome Lake and Woodard road in Sutton.

Hindrance:

Alternating traffic, from Monday to Friday, between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Details:

Speed limits:  50 km/h and 70 km/h

These hindrances may change due to changes in operation or weather. Consult Québec 511 to keep informed about the work.

For the safety of road users and workers, it is essential that you comply with the signs.

Reminder – the collection of the brown bin will be done weekly

Starting on May 16th, the brown bin will be collected every week  on your regular collection day, until November 1st, 2019.

To ensure that your bin is collected, we wish to remind you of the following :

  • Place your bin with its wheels facing the house;
  • Position the bin within 5 feet from the roadside before 7 a.m. on the day of the pick-up;
  • Make sure it is easily accessible and at least two feet away from any other object.

It is very important that you put only accepted organic materials in your brown bin: This means NO plastic bags (whether regular, biodegradable, or compostable), NO recyclable materials and NO household waste are allowed.

Reminder – large garbage collection – Friday, May 3rd, 2019

There will be a large garbage collection in all the sectors on Friday May 3, 2019.

Please note that the following materials will not be picked up:

  • construction materials (gypsum, asphalt shingles, mineral wool, wood, linoleum, tiles, melamine, glass, etc.);
  • electronics, electrical devices, computer devices (television, toaster, microwave oven, computer, keyboard, printer, etc.);
  • tires and auto parts;
  • aggregates (brick, concrete, asphalt, rock etc.);
  • hazardous waste (paint, oil, batteries, propane tank, etc.);
  • autumn leaves;
  • household garbage.

You have to put your large items on the side of the road at the latest on May 2nd if you do not want to miss the collection.

You can also bring your large objects at the ecocenter on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 9 am to 12 pm and the 4th Saturday of the month from 8 am to 4 pm. Thank you for your cooperation and help us keep your town clean!

RESIDUAL MATERIAL MANAGEMENT – A COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY!

Reminder – Operation of the MRC Brome-Missisquoi Ecocentre, Sutton site – Opening April 27th, 2019

The Public Works Department wishes to remind you of the following:

  • Disassemble your items and separate your materials before coming to the Ecocentre (Example: vinyl must be separate from plywood before coming to the Ecocentre).
  • Only residential material is accepted.
  • No commercial material is accepted.
  • The contents of the trailers accepted at the Ecocentre must be of a maximum volume of 64 cubic feet, the equivalent of a residential type trailer approximately 4 feet x 8 feet x 2 feet (1.8 cubic meters).
  • HHW (Household Hazardous Waste) (paint and oil) must be in their original containers and in a maximum quantity of 8 gallons.

Please note that the Cowansville Ecocentre will be exceptionally open twice in May, namely on Saturday May 4th and 18th. For the schedule of all the ecocentres, please consult this calendar.

Ecocentre employees reserve the right to refuse a citizen that does not respect
the operation rules and the prescribed quantities.

 

Correction – deposit of light bulbs at the Ecocentre only

Town of Sutton wishes to rectify an error published in the municipal bulletin of April 2019 . Light bulbs must be brought to the municipal Ecocentre or the MRC Ecocentre of Sutton and not left at the Town Hall’s front desk.
