Défi Sutton Challenge 2023 – A resounding success!

On a sunny but chilly Saturday, a hundred Sutton residents took part in the fifth edition of the Sutton Challenge organized by the Coop gym santé Sutton as part of ParticipACTION’s Community Challenge, which runs from June 1 to 30, 2023 across Canada.

Of the 100 participants, 57 were under 12, including the youngest, Flora, aged 3.  As for the adults, congratulations to our elder Elisabeth, who, at the dawn of her 87th birthday, walked the 3 km course.

Congratulations to Elisabeth!

A total of 121 starts were made on the 4 following events: 3km walk and run, 800 and 1,600 meters and the popular 1,600-meter relay (2 adults/2 children).

Well done to the youngsters who took part in all four events, and congratulations to Rose Bruneau-Lessieur who came 2nd in the 3km, 800m and 1600m, and Edan Lamoureux who came 3rd in the 800m and 1600m.  In the boys’ category, congratulations to Pierre Gaudet, 1st in the 800m and 2nd in the 1600m. Well done!

Congratulations to the three winning teams of the 1600m relay!

The smoothie bike is a popular post-race activity….each participant pedals to operate the blender that provides a delicious smoothie.  What a delight!

Even adults are getting in. Marc-André Blain, Councillor and Deputy Mayor

The Coop gym santé Sutton would like to thank Édith Dandenault, master of ceremonies, IGA Sutton and Alban Houle fruits et légumes for the snacks, the Town of Sutton for the equipment and the twenty-one volunteers who helped make the event a success.
