New lighting on the bike path!

Thanks to a $98,000 grant received last March from the Quebec government as part of the Municipal Infrastructure Program for Seniors (PRIMA), new lighting has just been added to one of the village’s most frequently used paths: 75 bollard lights have now been installed along the bike path and in Goyette-Hill Park!

Environmentally-friendly lighting that encourages walking

This project is part of the 2023-2027 action plan of our Family and Seniors Policy. It responds directly to the objective of encouraging seniors to walk, more specifically by installing lighting in the most frequently used routes. The new bollards run along the bike path and through Goyette-Hill Park to the first parking lot, creating a pleasant walking route to the soon-to-be-renovated Western Street.

The 75 bollards installed are solar-powered and were chosen in compliance with municipal regulations on light pollution. Their low height also allows for low, soft lighting.

The addition of this lighting is intended to contribute to the population’s sense of security, to improve access to local services and to enhance the quality of life throughout our community.

The project has received the support of local organizations FADOQ Les Deux Monts, Les Villas des Monts, CAB Sutton, COOP Gym de Sutton and CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS.

If you haven’t already done so, we invite you to discover and enjoy this new illuminated circuit, starting at dusk!
