An <a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/en\/municipal-council\/committees\/#CCAP\">Advisory Committee<\/a> has since been set up to advice and support the Town in the long term development of its collection.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tTown&#8217;s Vision\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>&#8220;Everywhere one turns, there is a work of art&#8221; &#8211; art which bears witness to Sutton&#8217;s development, reflects its identity and contributes to its impact as a cultural and creative town.<\/p>\n<p>Through its Public Art Policy, the Town strives to create vibrant public spaces that reflect the diversity of our community, stimulate a sense of pride and engage its residents and visitors with quality works of public art.<\/p>\n<p>The Policy is therefore a concrete sign of the recognition of the contribution of arts and heritage to the development of Sutton.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tGoals\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Provide all Sutton residents with access to art in public places.<\/li>\n<li>Honour, preserve and encourage the expression of our cultural heritage and artistic diversity, namely by offering a showcase to local artists.<\/li>\n<li>Promote civic identity through awareness and preservation of the community&#8217;s history and culture.<\/li>\n<li>Enhance Sutton&#8217; desirability as a community by creating appealing environments in which to live, work and play.<\/li>\n<li>Support effective urban planning, economic development and cultural tourism opportunities.<\/li>\n<li><em>Encourage all those who care about the community to participate in making, collecting and commissioning art.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\tMunicipal Collection\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The Town of Sutton has works of art and cultural property and wishes to develop its collection in the long term. All public art projects and acquisitions will be assessed and developed in keeping with the above goals of its policy. You can propose a work by sending your <a href=\"#Formulaires\">submission<\/a> to the <a href=\"#Agente\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cultural Officer<\/a>. It will be evaluated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/en\/municipal-council\/committees\/#CAAP\">Acquisition Committee<\/a>, which will make its recommendations to Town&#8217;s Council. In the short term, only donations are possible and, under certain conditions, receipts may be issued. You are encouraged to read the <a href=\"#PPAP\">Procedures for the Administration of the Public Art Policy<\/a> for full details before submitting your application. It includes criteria for the review and selection of public art and guidelines for the management, preservation, interpretation, development and promotion of the Town&#8217;s art collection.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">Works of art include items of artistic interest, such as:<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>Paintings and drawings produced entirely by hand on any support and in any material (excluding industrial designs and manufactured articles decorated by hand);<\/li>\n<li>Original prints and photographs;<\/li>\n<li>Original artistic assemblages and montages in any medium;<\/li>\n<li>Work of commemorative art and sculpture in any material;<\/li>\n<li>Works of applied art in such materials as glass, ceramics, metal, wood, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-1\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-1\">Cultural property comprises tangible evidence of human history, tradition, culture and knowledge, such as:<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-1\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>Memorials, plaques and commemorative tablets;<\/li>\n<li>Arches, ornamental gateways, foundation stones and other structures of a permanent or fixed character intended for ornament or commemoration, both interior and exterior;<\/li>\n<li>A combination of landscaping and landscaping design such as rocks, fountains, reflecting pools, benches and other types of street furniture<\/li>\n<li>Decorative arts (limited to the furniture and furnishings of the public rooms of Town-owned buildings);<\/li>\n<li>Artifacts comprising memorabilia or ceremonial objects;<\/li>\n<li>Historical components (such as plans, old photos, old posters, coat of arms, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Official gifts from visiting officials and, eventually, gift exchanges from twin city relationships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<h3>Town&#8217;s \u00ab One Percent Policy \u00bb artworks<\/h3>\n<p>The infrastructure projects carried out by the Town and granted by the Quebec Government have resulted in the design of works carried out under the <a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Culture-texte-politique-1\ufffd_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Policy of integration of the arts to architecture and the environment of buildings and public and Government sites.<\/a>\u00a0In February 2017, a first work was unveiled at the Town Hall Council room. A second artwork was created and installed in 2017 at Parc Goyette-Hill, &#8220;Appalaches&#8221; by <a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Oeuvre_Appalaches_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Louise deLorme<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t<iframe title=\"Acquisition d&#039;\u0153uvres d&#039;E\u0301ric Lamontagne\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hsfDZtB6dd0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\t<iframe title=\"De\u0301marche d&#039;\u00c9ric Lamontagne\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OTu5JYklFQY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<h2>\n\t\tFirst actions\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The years 2016 and 2017 were dedicated, among others, to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establishing <a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/en\/municipal-council\/committees\/#CCAP\">committees<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Writing documents for donations and loans of works;<\/li>\n<li>Preparing an inventory of municipal buildings and sites that can accommodate works and prioritizing some of them;<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing the Town&#8217;s cultural works and property and make the design of a database;<\/li>\n<li>Developing a long-term protection storage area at the Museum of Communications and History of Sutton for the Town-owned artefacts;<\/li>\n<li>Organizing an exhibition at the town hall\u00a0made up of works and cultural property from the municipal collection;<\/li>\n<li>Designing a curio cabinet that can display small works lent by artists and planning a first call for submissions;<\/li>\n<li>Planning a call for submissions for an outdoor sculpture that will be displayed temporarily on a municipal site;<\/li>\n<li>Organizing of the unveiling of the two works carried out under the Policy of integration of the arts to architecture and the environment of buildings and public and Government sites (Town Hall and Goyette-Hill Park);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\tCalls for submissions\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>There is no call for projects at the moment.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tForms\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>In French only.
