Our free movie nights take place on Thursday evenings\u2014July 2, 16, and 30, as well as August 13. You will have a choice between two films in French with English subtitles and two films in English with French subtitles. Each film will be preceded by a short film. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, July 2: First free movie night<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Molly in Springtime<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

As the opening act of the evening on July 2, you will be able to watch the short film Molly in Springtime <\/em><\/strong>(Le printemps de M\u00e9lie, in French). This puppet animation film, directed by Pierre-Luc Granjon, brings to life a sublime medieval fable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Synopsis: In the kingdom, the Spring Festival celebrations have barely begun when the city is threatened by a terrible epidemic. Princess Molly, crowned Queen of the Carnival, sets out to investigate alongside M\u00e9lusine the hedgehog and discovers that the city\u2019s water supply has been poisoned.

The first feature film of the season is Ma belle-m\u00e8re est une sorci\u00e8re <\/em><\/strong>(My Stepmother Is a Witch) in the original French version, with English subtitles.
Good news! Dominic James, owner of Productions La F\u00eate, along with Christine Doyon, the film\u2019s screenwriter, will be on hand to answer your questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Synopsis: This 27th<\/sup> film from Contes pour tous<\/em> (Stories for everyone) follows the adventures of 12-year-old Margot, who can\u2019t come to terms with her parents\u2019 divorce. She is convinced that her mother, who\u2019s been away for several weeks, will eventually come back and that everything will go back to normal. However, one evening after school, she discovers that a woman named Jeanne has moved into their home. Her father reassures her, telling her that Jeanne is an old friend from high school and that their reunion is purely coincidental. But her father\u2019s behavior, along with strange events, leads Margot to believe that this exuberant intruder is actually a witch. To get to the bottom of things, she turns to Madame Dalloway, an expert in the occult who practices her craft in the back room of a laundromat.

We are pleased to announce the titles of the three other family-friendly film screenings that will be offered free of charge at the Sutton School of Art:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span> Thursday, July 16: Kayak to Klemtu<\/em><\/strong>, a Canadian film <\/em>by Zoe Leigh Hopkins.
The film will be shown in its original English version with French subtitles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span> Thursday, July 30: Gaz Bar Blues<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em> a Quebec film by Louis B\u00e9langer.

<\/path><\/svg><\/span> Thursday, August 13: The Triplets of Belleville<\/em>,<\/strong> a French animated film nominated for an Oscar. Although French is spoken in the film, there is virtually no dialogue: much like a silent film, the story is told visually and through song.
