Indigenous Creativity in the Spotlight on Thursday, July 16<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Wapikoni Mobile<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

In the first part of the evening, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to watch Wapikoni Mobile<\/a> short films, which will be presented by the organization\u2019s founder, director Manon Barbeau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wapikoni Mobile is a non-profit Indigenous organization that supports the personal, creative, and professional development of First Nations people and strengthens their communities through audiovisual creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kayak to Klemtu<\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The feature film that will be screened on this second movie night is Kayak to Klemtu<\/em><\/strong>, a Canadian film directed by Zoe Leigh Hopkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Synopsis: <\/strong>The film tells the story of 14-year-old Ella, who must transport her late uncle\u2019s ashes to Klemtu, British Columbia. She must paddle along the Inside Passage and through the Great Bear Rainforest. It\u2019s a race against time to arrive on schedule and deliver a crucial speech opposing a proposed oil pipeline. Her journey is complicated by her dysfunctional family, who are traveling with her.

Runtime: <\/strong>90 minutes
