It has a team of around thirty people and a fleet of around twenty trucks and cars to carry out its many tasks across a vast territory of 247.37 km\u00b2 and more than 200 km of paved and dirt roads..<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintenance of municipal infrastructure, including buildings, parks, municipal roads, the water supply system (drinking water), the sewer system (wastewater treatment), and the entire fleet of vehicles owned by the Town.<\/li>\n<li>Coordination of the various waste collection services (garbage, recycling, compost, bulky items, leaves, glass).<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of the road network (asphalt roads, gravel roads, road signs, culverts and ditches);<\/li>\n<li>It manages and oversees infrastructure projects approved by the Council.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tTreasury Department\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button type=\"button\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h6 id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\">More Information<\/h6>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Finance and Treasury Department is responsible for the Town&#8217;s financial management, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, standards, and procedures.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage the municipality&#8217;s revenues, operating and capital expenses, debts, loans, assets and liabilities.<\/li>\n<li>It prepares the annual budget and the three-year capital assets plan in collaboration with the General Direction.<\/li>\n<li>It prepares the annual financial statements under the supervision of an independent auditor.<\/li>\n<li>It manages tax accounts based on property assessments and the tax rates adopted in the budget.<\/li>\n<li>It manages accounts receivable and payable.<\/li>\n<li>It administers the payroll service for municipal employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tRegistry and Legal Affairs Department\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button type=\"button\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h6 id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\">More Information<\/h6>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Clerk&#8217;s Office and Legal Affairs Department is responsible for all legal aspects of the Town&#8217;s administrative management, in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, standards, and procedures.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It prepares municipal council meetings in accordance with council directives and drafts the meeting minutes.<\/li>\n<li>It carries out the required procedures for the enactment of bylaws and publishes all public notices as required by law.<\/li>\n<li>It provides legal support to the various departments and to Council on all legal matters.<\/li>\n<li>It manages access to information requests.<\/li>\n<li>It is responsible for the Town&#8217;s archives and records management.<\/li>\n<li>It manages the Town&#8217;s insurance portfolio.<\/li>\n<li>It handles litigation files, complaints, and claims, and represents the Town in legal proceedings.<\/li>\n<li>It organizes and oversees municipal elections every four years, as well as any by-elections and referendums.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tRecreation, Community Life, and Culture Department\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button type=\"button\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h6 id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\">More Information<\/h6>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Recreation and Community Life: <a href=\"mailto:loisirs.lvc@sutton.ca\">loisirs.lvc@sutton.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Culture: <a href=\"mailto:culture.lvc@sutton.ca\">culture.lvc@sutton.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department aims to promote access to culture, sports, outdoor activities, green spaces, recreation, and community life in order to contribute meaningfully to the well-being, overall health, and quality of life of the community. This is done in collaboration with local partners, while fostering a sense of pride and belonging in Sutton<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It develops, implements, and monitors policies and action plans related to its mission (including the Family and Seniors Policy, Cultural Policy, and the Policy on Recognition and Support for Non-Profit Organizations).<\/li>\n<li>It develops and publishes, three times a year, a detailed schedule of activities and events offered within the municipality in the areas of sports, cultural, and community recreation.<\/li>\n<li>It reviews and processes support requests submitted by recognized organizations.<\/li>\n<li>It processes authorization requests for holding events or activities within the municipality, as well as requests to rent municipal community halls.<\/li>\n<li>It manages the administration of municipal sports facilities and fields (pool, tennis, pickleball, baseball, basketball, soccer, skating rink, and ice path).<\/li>\n<li>It organizes the municipal day camp and aquatic activities offered each summer.<\/li>\n<li>It manages the development of municipal parks in collaboration with the Public Works and Fixed Assets Department.<\/li>\n<li>It organizes and\/or collaborates on recurring or one-time public events (Winter Fun, Volunteer Appreciation Evening, Generations Celebration, Quebec National Holiday, Halloween, Christmas Market).<\/li>\n<li>It oversees the management of the municipal library.<\/li>\n<li>It supports cultural mediation projects.<\/li>\n<li>It encourages and supports collaboration among and with local organizations in order to build strong community connections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tPublic Safety Department\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button type=\"button\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h6 id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\">More Information<\/h6>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Public Security Department is responsible for protecting lives, property, and the environment throughout the entire territory of Sutton, which also includes the municipality of Abercorn-for a total area of 274.5\u202fkm\u00b2 and a combined population of 5,124 people [source: MAMH, 2025]. Its mission is to reduce human and material losses by providing prevention and emergency response services. The department includes a brigade of about thirty volunteer firefighters and first responders who receive ongoing training.
