{"id":107094,"date":"2025-10-02T13:29:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T17:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/?p=107094"},"modified":"2025-11-24T12:02:48","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T17:02:48","slug":"highlights-of-the-new-urban-plan-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/en\/highlights-of-the-new-urban-plan-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The Town of Sutton adopted the final version of the new Urban Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">&#8211; PRESS RELEASE &#8211;<\/p>\n\n<p>Mayor Robert Beno\u00eet expressed great satisfaction with the result of all these concerted efforts between the Town and its citizens: &#8220;I am particularly proud of this document, which reflects all the work accomplished over the past four years. The objective is to provide Sutton with a territorial development vision to address the challenges of the next decade. And I am especially happy that this Plan has received unanimous support from the population.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p>Since the submission of the draft urban plan on August 6 and the subsequent <a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/en\/full-house-at-the-public-consultation-on-the-urban-plan-on-last-thursday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">official public consultation<\/a> on September 11, the council has made some adjustments to the text so that the final version of the Plan best reflects the latest citizen requests expressed.<\/p>\n\n<p>Thus, in addition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/en\/highlights-of-the-new-urban-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">highlights<\/a> already noted in the preliminary version, these latest modifications emphasize the complementarity and vision of balanced development between the village as the heart of community life and the mountain as a resort and residential area, as well as a place for outdoor activities for all. Together, they offer a unique quality of life, combining nature, culture, and local dynamism.<\/p>\n\n<p>Furthermore, the recreational component is expanded, with a diverse range of outdoor activities, from skiing to mountain biking, including camping and adventure courses. New definitions also clarify intensive and extensive activities to better reflect their impact on the natural environment. <\/p>\n\n<p>Regarding conservation, the area of protected areas increases to 19.9%, with the addition of exceptional forest ecosystems and increased recognition of the role of partner organizations such as Appalachian Corridor, CNC, and ACM\u00c9. Biodiversity is highlighted, particularly by the presence of endangered species such as the wood turtle and the purple salamander, and the maintenance of ecosystems is emphasized. <\/p>\n\n<p>Regarding mountain real estate development, it remains subject to the lifting of the moratorium and the funding and implementation of appropriate infrastructure.
