All day long, a major operation was carried out, coordinated by SOPFEU, both to organize air tanker rotations to contain the fire, and to ensure the safety of people on the trails. <\/p>\n\n

Our team of Sutton firefighters, led by Fire Chief Don Mireault and Assistant Fire Chief Marc-Antoine Fortier, was supported by firefighters from Cowansville, Frelighsburg, Brome Lake, Potton and Dunham, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks. General Manager Jonathan Fortin and Mayor Robert Beno\u00eet were on hand all day, while two blue-collar workers helped transport materials. <\/p>\n\n

At 7 p.m., the fire on the summit of Mont \u00c9cho was under control, but not yet completely extinguished. No injuries were reported. <\/p>\n\n

The SOPFEU team is continuing to monitor the area overnight, and operations will resume at 8 a.m. tomorrow. There is no risk to residents, but the Mont \u00c9cho trails will remain closed until further notice. <\/p>\n\n

A further update will be provided mid-day on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n
