The park’s lack of parking spaces was an issue raised by park users. “We lost 9 spaces when Western Street and the parking lots were rebuilt, and we are going to be able to create a lot more,” explained the mayor. This land is about four times the size of the current two parking lots, but we won’t be doing just parking.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, the Town is working on a development plan for the site that will have to take into account the riparian zones and a wetland to be respected, as well as the organic contaminants caused by a former sawmill. It should be noted, however, that the Town will not need to decontaminate the site for the purposes and intended use of the area. A detailed plan will be presented in the coming weeks, and development work is scheduled for 2027. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The land, covering almost 175,000 ft2<\/sup> (16,000 m2<\/sup>), was acquired for $200,000 which will be taken from the unallocated surplus in the budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Town would like to thank the landowner, Mr. Daniel Larose, who demonstrated openness to ensuring this land benefits the entire community and contributes to Sutton\u2019s harmonious development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
