This project, which aims to offer an improved space to all our citizens and particularly our seniors, is financed in half by the Government of Quebec, for up to a maximum of $28,850, under the Programme d&#8217;infrastructures Municipalit\u00e9 amie des a\u00een\u00e9s (PRIMADA).<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The project to renovate Sutton\u2019s petanque court was launched in 2021 by the Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department, which consulted several of our local organizations: representatives of the FADOQ des\u00a0Deux-Monts, the Centre d\u2019action b\u00e9n\u00e9vole (CAB) de\u00a0Sutton, the CIUSS de l\u2019Estrie \u2013 CHUS and the Coop Gym Sant\u00e9, as well as representatives of the seniors, members of the steering committee of the Politique de la famille et des ain\u00e9s (family and seniors policy). Everyone has welcomed the initiative which will be beneficial to the whole population, from a community, leisure and wellness point of view.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Place Rosanne-Cohen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Photo-Rosanne-Cohen.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Photo-Rosanne-Cohen.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49024\" width=\"163\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Photo-Rosanne-Cohen.png 503w, https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Photo-Rosanne-Cohen-236x300.png 236w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 163px) 100vw, 163px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><em>(cr\u00e9dit : Patrizia Pino)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Town of Sutton has decided to name the future site \u201cPlace Rosanne-Cohen\u201d in honour of our former councillor who unfortunately passed away during her mandate in 2020. Rosanne was responsible for the municipal files on recreation and community life and she left her mark on her fellow citizens with her great empathy and her commitment to her municipality. Her husband, Mr.\u00a0Ren\u00e9 Daigle, said he was deeply touched by this gesture which recognizes the involvement and passion that his wife had for the town of Sutton and its citizens.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A double court in a redesigned space<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The work will begin on Monday, May 2 and should last less than a month. They include the installation of a double petanque court with concrete borders, new one and two-seat benches, picnic tables with universal accessibility (strollers and wheelchairs), and improved lighting. The whole area will be enhanced by new landscaping.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During construction, the site will be gated, but access to the John-Sleeth Community and Cultural Centre will remain open at all times.
