The Town of Sutton announced in a news item<\/a> last week its participation in ParticipACTION’s Community Better Challenge<\/a> from June 1st to June 30th, in order to be crowned the most active community in Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several local partner organizations, in collaboration with the recreation, community life and culture department, have concocted a great program allowing everyone, both children and adults, to get active in June!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program in Sutton<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In June, we walk, we run, we jump, we roll, we dance!
Several public events are planned: discover our program!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these events, you will find in Sutton a multitude of ways to move every day: we offer you several ideas of local physical activities, to which we encourage you to add your own: <\/p>\n\n\n

How to register your minutes?<\/h2>\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Any activity that gets you moving is valid for adding your minutes to the Community Better Challenge: taking a walk, gardening, going shopping on foot, vacuuming, walking your dog, running, dancing, swimming… everything counts!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After each activity, simply log your activity minutes in the ParticipACTION app<\/strong><\/a> or on their website<\/a>:<\/strong> sign up today, if you haven’t already!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dance Sutton<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Town of Sutton has received funding from ParticipACTION to organize a participatory dance activity that will allow everyone to move while dancing and having fun, in groups or alone: Maude Lecours, a local artist, has created a short choreography that you will be invited to practice during the month of June. The goal is for as many people as possible to learn the movements of this short dance in order to join in the final performance, which will take place as a flash mob on the sidewalk of Principale Street on Tuesday, June 28, at 5:30 p.m. Great atmosphere guaranteed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goals of the Community Better Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to inviting Canadians to get moving and record their physical activity minutes, the Community Better Challenge will award a $100,000 Grand Prize<\/strong> to the community that gathers the most participants and accumulates the most active minutes in Canada<\/strong>. A $15,000 prize is also awarded across Quebec. The awards are for local physical activity projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
