The Public Works and Fixed Assets Department presented to the public its project to repair the northern part of Western Street: a project that is innovative and a model for future street reconstructions in Sutton<\/strong>.<\/h3>\n\n\n

In the presence of Mayor Robert Beno\u00eet and Councillors Marie-Jos\u00e9 Auclair, Lynda Graham and Marc-Andr\u00e9 Blain, the Director of the Public Works and Fixed Assets Department, Titouan V. Perriollat, accompanied by his project and development manager, Martin St-Jacques, and the landscape architect mandated for the landscape concept, M\u00e9lanie Glorieux of the Rousseau Lefebvre firm, explained the overall plan of the work envisaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work will include not only the replacement of underground infrastructure (water and sanitary sewer pipes) and the installation of a new storm sewer, but also a complete redesign of the street’s traffic flow (sidewalks, traffic bottlenecks, vegetated strips) and the two parking lots in Goyette-Hill Park. The Town’s goal is to reduce the speed of traffic on the street to ensure the safety of pedestrians and the comfort of residents. Revegetation of the street and bioretention of runoff water in the parking lots are also part of the innovative approach to this reconstruction. Once the final plans are adopted, work could begin next spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Appreciating the new features presented, the citizens present were able to ask questions and make comments and suggestions that were duly noted by the Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
