Nearly 500 people showed up throughout the day at the former Filtex site, and in the evening at the Salle Alec & G\u00e9rard Pelletier, to take part in the various activities offered during this festive day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In spite of the rain, we kept the family activities going! Under the tent, circus artist Damkko entertained about forty children and parents as they manipulated flower sticks, Chinese plates and juggling balls. Our make-up artist created real works of art on the faces of the smiling children who proudly strolled around the site. Young and old pedaled the velo-smoothie to create delicious, healthy beverages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/i> Visitors enjoyed blooming onions, lemonade and cotton candy from Mountain View, as well as mechoui poutine and baked potatoes with mechoui meat from Tente M\u00e9choui & Plus. They were also able to quench their thirst with beers from Auberge Sutton Brou\u00ebrie and enjoy margaritas from GATO and white and red wines from Vignoble Domaine Bresee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/i> Evening activities<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The heavy rain and wind in the morning had a somewhat disruptive effect on the program. Some activities unfortunately had to be moved or cancelled, such as the ceremonies and the fire and light show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 6 p.m., however, the musical portion of the evening kicked off under the Filtex tent, in an acoustic version, with Willy Lemaistre and Tristan Henderson getting the crowd up and dancing, while a Cirkaz artist entertained visitors with her crystal ball. Then, starting at 7 p.m., Alice Tougas and Thierry Larose performed in the Alec and G\u00e9rard Pelletier auditorium to an enthusiastic crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prizes have been won! <\/i><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year, we wanted to spoil you by raffling off a few prizes to those who bought tickets! Here are the prices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 1 pair of tickets to the Aliocha Schneider show on November 2 at Salle Alec & G\u00e9rard Pelletier;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1 pair of tickets for the V\u00e9loVolant at Au Diable Vert;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2 pairs of tickets for the river tubing activity offered by Au Diable Vert;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2 season passes to the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton (PENS);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1 pair of tickets for the Mont Sutton zip-line.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    <\/i> A note on site cleanliness<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    \n

    Official programming for the F\u00eate nationale du Qu\u00e9bec in Sutton ended at 9:30 p.m., after which municipal employees packed up and cleaned up the site. However, a number of citizens remained on site to play music, sing and light a campfire: their presence was exceptionally tolerated, even though municipal bylaws prohibit noise-making after 11 p.m., as well as open fires on municipal property. However, the following day, the town received complaints about the cleanliness of the site following these citizen festivities<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Not only had there been a lot of garbage and bottles left there, as well as chairs and there was still a fire burning in the early hours of the morning. A number of rubbish and recycling garbage containers had been placed on the site, and it would have been easy to dispose of and recycle all the garbage, as well as safely extinguish the fire. We deplore this situation and ask our citizens to respect the cleanliness of our municipal grounds and parks at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We’d like to thank all those who, despite the unpredictable weather, came out to dance, sing and have fun on the F\u00eate nationale du Qu\u00e9bec site, as well as in Salle Alec & G\u00e9rard Pelletier, whether with family or friends!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And once again, we’d like to extend our warmest thanks to all those who helped make this 2024 edition such a success:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
