Every year since 2013, the Conseil du patrimoine religieux du Qu\u00e9bec has been rewarding outstanding achievements that demonstrate Quebecers’ commitment, innovation and passion for their religious heritage through its Awards of Excellence. This year, the Sutton Volunteer Centre (SVC) project to transform Olivet Church into the Maison des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations Olivet House, was submitted and shortlisted for an award in the Repurposing category, which highlights projects to renovate a religious heritage building integrating new functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Maison des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations Olivet House<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2020 with the donation of the Olivet Church by the Baptist congregation, the Maison des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations Olivet House project has given new life to this beautiful fieldstone church, while continuing its community vocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 3 years, the CAB team worked hard to bring to reality the project to reuse the church as a multifunctional space promoting social involvement and community well-being, particularly for families and seniors.  This transformation of the Olivet Baptist Church involves a change in the building’s use, requiring modifications to meet current safety, health and comfort standards, while preserving its historical, heritage and architectural character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Maison des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations Olivet House was inaugurated in autumn 2023<\/a>. Since then, it has been a landmark for the organization and many citizens, who can access community services in an enchanting, central location in our town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
