The Town of Sutton is proud to announce that Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Boucher, a volunteer who has been involved in Sutton’s sports community for many years, has been named a finalist in the 2024 edition of the Dollard-Morin Volunteer Award for Recreation and Sport!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Boucher<\/strong> was nominated by the Town’s Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department in the spring, in recognition of his considerable contribution to the Sutton’s sports scene. For the past fifteen years, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric has brought people of all ages together around amateur sports, helping to strengthen the community’s social fabric.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric organizes a softball league for adults<\/strong>, which attracts nearly 100 players to Goyette-Hill Park throughout the summer. Through the tournaments he organizes, he raises funds for the Opti-ski<\/strong> project, which gives 85 elementary school children access to ski lessons and equipment at affordable rates<\/strong>. To complete the financing, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric brings together some forty local sponsors, encouraging the social involvement of local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, he joined the governing board of the Sutton Curling Club<\/strong>. After starting out as a player, his entrepreneurial spirit and attachment to the community led him to become involved in the organization. Naturally, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric developed a junior program<\/strong> at the club over the past year, always with the sport of local youth at heart.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An evening in honour of the finalists<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since 1992, the Dollard-Morin Volunteer Award for Recreation and Sport<\/a> has recognized the invaluable contribution of volunteers in the field of recreation and sport, both regionally and nationally. It is the highest distinction awarded by the Quebec government to give special recognition to the exemplary commitment of volunteers and their impact within leisure and sports organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric was named a finalist for the Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie regional award.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loisir et sport Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie, an organization working in the field of sports and recreation, held a cocktail party in honor of the region’s 11 finalists<\/a> on October 9 in Saint-Hyacinthe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric was unable to attend, but a certificate was presented to his wife V\u00e9ronique Vall\u00e9e and daughter Rosalie Boucher. \u00c9lizabeth Deit, Director of Recreation, Community Life and Culture, was also present as a representative of the municipal department that submitted the nomination.<\/p>\n\n\n
