Today, Wednesday November 20, is World Children’s Day. To mark this important celebration, two flags were raised on the Sutton mast, and an intergenerational activity took place, bringing together FADOQ Les Deux monts members and children from the Jardin d’enfants de Sutton<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On October 20, 2023, the Town of Sutton was awarded the prestigious Child Friendly City (CFC) certification<\/strong><\/a> by Espace MUNI in collaboration with UNICEF Canada. To obtain this certification, an application was submitted, presenting numerous actions already implemented by the Town, as well as four clear commitments to improve the quality of life of the community\u2019s children, in line with the Families and Seniors Policy and its 2023-2027 action plan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One year later, in this 9th<\/sup> edition of the Early Childhood Week, we present the four commitments made to obtain the CFC certification and the achievements made in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, we presented the progress of the Gagn\u00e9 Park redesign project<\/strong><\/a> as well as the safety measures implemented to access Goyette-Hill Park during the redevelopment of the northern part of Western Street<\/strong><\/a>. Today, we present the third commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third commitment : Celebrating World Children’s Day<\/mark><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

World Children’s Day marks the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child<\/strong><\/a> on November 20, 1989. The Convention consists of 54 articles decreeing children’s rights and the efforts of governments, the UN and other organizations to ensure that children enjoy every one of their rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Town of Sutton is making numerous efforts in this direction, in particular by implementing the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
