{"id":88710,"date":"2025-01-15T16:24:19","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T21:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/?p=88710"},"modified":"2025-12-03T09:35:40","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T14:35:40","slug":"modernized-curbside-recycling-system-comes-into-effect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/staging\/en\/modernized-curbside-recycling-system-comes-into-effect\/","title":{"rendered":"Modernized curbside recycling system comes into effect"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From curbside recycling to circular economy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Management of the system has been entrusted to an organization designated by RECYC-QU\u00c9BEC: <strong>\u00c9co Entreprises Qu\u00e9bec (\u00c9EQ)<\/strong> is now responsible for planning, implementing and financing the curbside recycling system throughout Quebec.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The regulations governing this modernized curbside recycling system, drawn up using an <strong>extended producer responsibility (EPR)<\/strong> approach, transfer to producers and \u00c9co Entreprises Qu\u00e9bec (\u00c9EQ) the responsibility, until now assumed by municipal organizations, of collecting, transporting, sorting, packaging and recycling or otherwise recuperating end-of-life products.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The deployment of this modernized system means that the guidelines on what materials are accepted in the recycling bin, and how they should be sorted, are now <strong>uniform throughout Quebec<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The gradual introduction of the <strong>modernized curbside recycling system<\/strong> is an opportunity for Quebec to build a circular economy for recyclable materials, with a focus on recycling containers, packaging and printed matter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>What changes?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714 What is called \u201crecycling\u201d is actually recovery. <strong>Recovery<\/strong> is in fact the first stage of collection from citizens, with the materials collected then passing through the sorting center before being processed and recycled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714 <strong>Bin Impact<\/strong> is the new popular brand, developed by \u00c9EQ and launched in January 2024, which becomes the new benchmark for selective collection in Quebec. With <a href=\"https:\/\/binimpact.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Bin Impact<\/strong><\/a>, the \u00c9EQ wants to educate people about the right thing to do and make them aware of the impact of what they put in the bin. You&#8217;ve probably seen some of their video ads (in French only): <br><i class=\"fab fa-youtube\"><\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EApMI0ofINE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>J&#8217;en ai plein mon bac, with Sam Cyr and Maryl\u00e8ne Gendron<\/strong><\/a> <br><i class=\"fab fa-youtube\"><\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2n1DL1vZnAs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Advertising for the awareness campaign on the impact of sorting by Bin Impact (Hose)<\/strong><\/a><br><i class=\"fab fa-youtube\"><\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f2dl38y88Jg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Advertising for the awareness campaign on the impact of sorting by Bin Impact (Drill)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714 In short, from now on, you have got three words to remember when it comes to what to put in your recycling bin: <strong>containers, packaging and printed paper<\/strong>. Until then, these containers will continue to be accepted in the blue bin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A civic gesture!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It may seem like a trivial gesture, but choosing the right recyclable materials to put in the recovery bin is part of the circular economy.
