En ce 17 mai 2023, la Ville de Sutton souligne une nouvelle fois la Journ\u00e9e internationale contre l’homophobie et la transphobie en hissant\u00a0en haut de son m\u00e2t le drapeau inclusif LGBTQ2S+ (Lesbiennes, Gais, Bisexuels, Transgenres, en Questionnement et Bispirituels).<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

La c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de cette journ\u00e9e est originaire du Qu\u00e9bec : la Fondation \u00c9mergence<\/a> a cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 2003 la premi\u00e8re journ\u00e9e nationale contre l\u2019homophobie. Depuis, elle organise chaque ann\u00e9e une campagne de sensibilisation et d’autres organismes ont repris cette journ\u00e9e qui est maintenant c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9e dans de nombreux pays. La date du 17 mai est une date symbolique pour les personnes homosexuelles, car c’est le 17 mai 1990 que l\u2019homosexualit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 retir\u00e9e de la liste des maladies mentales de l\u2019Organisation mondiale de la sant\u00e9 (OMS).<\/p>\n\n\n

Les six bandes arc-en-ciel symbolisent la vie pour le rouge, le r\u00e9confort pour l’orange, le soleil pour le jaune, la nature pour le vert, l\u2019art pour le bleu et la spiritualit\u00e9 pour le violet. Le triangle, ajout\u00e9 en 2018 en r\u00e9ponse aux changements apport\u00e9s dans la communaut\u00e9 LGBTQ, pr\u00e9sente les pastels du drapeau transgenre et le brun et le noir, symbole des minorit\u00e9s visibles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
