2025 Municipal General Elections: how to Be Part of the Electoral Staff?
The Town of Sutton is looking for dynamic and committed individuals to join its electoral staff for the upcoming municipal elections.
Do you want to contribute to local democracy and be part of the electoral staff for the next municipal election? As electoral staff, you will play a crucial role in the democratic process by helping to welcome voters, verify their identity, manage election materials, or count votes. Here’s what you need to know:
Availability and Positions
We need you for:
- Advance Polling, October 26, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Election Day, November 2, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Mandatory training will be provided to all selected individuals between October 9 and 18, 2025. The exact date will be communicated later.
The positions to be filled are:
- Deputy returning officer,
- Poll clerks,
- Person Responsible for Information and Maintaining Order (PRIMO);
- Assistant PRIMO;
- Members of the identity verification panel (IVP).
Conditions
Individuals who agree to fill these temporary positions will be entitled to remuneration, including for training. Remuneration ranges from $19.35/h to $24.75/h, depending on the position held (see the Municipal Elections/Electoral Staff section on the website). A record of employment will be sent to them at the end of the election period.
As electoral staff members play an important role in managing election operations, they must refrain from any partisan activity while performing their duties.
Before applying as a member of the electoral staff, you must ensure that you meet the conditions set out in the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities, sections 68 et seq. Certain provisions of this Act may prevent you from submitting your application, for example, if you already hold an elected position in another municipality. Also, under section 69 of this Act, “A person is not qualified to hold office as an election officer of any municipality if he is convicted of an offence that is a corrupt electoral practice within the meaning of section 645 of the Act respecting school elections concerning certain members of the boards of directors of English school service centres (chapter E-2.3) or the Election Act (chapter E-3.3).
To Submit your Application
If you wish to submit your application to be part of the electoral staff on Advance Polling Day and/or Election Day, October 26 and November 2, 2025, respectively, you must complete the application form downloadable below and send it to the returning officer:

– or by mail or in person at Town Hall Hall at 11 Principale Sud Street, Sutton. Paper copies will also be available upon request at the Town Hall reception.

Applications will be evaluated by the returning officer, who will assign positions according to established criteria.
