  • The Town of Sutton is the largest of the 21 municipalities in the Brome-Missisquoi RCM, with a territory of 246.54 km2.
  • It also has one of its largest road networks: it maintains all year round and snowplows in winter 200 km of municipal roads, comprising 65 km of paved roads and 135 km of dirt roads.
  • The other roads are either private roads, or roads managed by the Ministry of Transport (MTQ), namely: Maple Street, Route 139 (Principale Street), Route 215 (de la Vallée Road), a portion of Scenic Road, and Chemin de la Vallée-Missisquoi (apart from the small section leading to customs).
  • The Town of Sutton also offers an 18.4 km cycling network, with 83 bicycle parking spaces and a bicycle repair station in Veterans Park. Since this summer, 4 electric bicycle charging stations have been added to this offering.
  • Sutton’s population currently includes 4,768 permanent residents. The number of non-resident vacationers added to this was 5,100 people in 2023, according to the RCM, thus bringing the total to more than double.
  • According to the 2021 Statistics Canada census, 23.6% of our population has English as their mother tongue, but 71.9% is bilingual!
  • The median age of our population is 60.4 years (compared to 43.2 years for Quebec as a whole), meaning half are over 60.4 years old and the other half are under 60.4 years old.
  • Our seniors over 65 years old represent 38.9% of the population (compared to 20.6% for Quebec as a whole).
  • To meet the needs and ensure the well-being of all age groups within its population, the Town of Sutton has adopted an ambitious and proactive action plan in connection with its new Family and Seniors Policiy, adopted in February 2023.
