And the winners of the 2024 Volunteer Recognition Evening are…
Our Sutton Volunteer Recognition Evening took place on April 19. Once again this year, the festive event gave us the opportunity to bring together and thank personally the volunteers who contribute to the animation and well-being of our community. Nearly ninety people attended this annual celebration, held at the Auberge-hôtel Le Montagnard. Last March, the organizations were invited to nominate one of their volunteers who stood out during the year 2023. A total of eighteen organizations nominated twenty-six volunteers (one organization nominated 6 people together, and another nominated 2 people). An evaluation committee then selected the winners in the four categories: culture, recreation and sport, community life and youth (for young people under 30). In 2023, the Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department added a new category to these four to honor one of the 35 volunteers of the Sutton Municipal and School Library. The winners each received a gift card from Sutton’s Pixel Nano restaurant and, for the Young Volunteers prize, a gift card from the ice cream bar Snöbol. Finally, Mayor Robert Benoît wished to honor two citizens through the “Mayor’s Tribute” category, which recognizes a person’s overall volunteer achievements over a long period of time. This year, he chose to pay tribute to : Mrs. Jeanne Morazain, who was involved in several organizations before devoting herself body, heart and soul to the Heritage Sutton Historical Society, of which she has been a member for over 20 years and president for 15; and Mr. Kenneth Hill, who is recognized for his active volunteer…
