What will you do?
Under the supervision of the foreman, the successful candidate will carry out general maintenance, repair and improvement work on municipal infrastructure. He or she will be required to operate heavy machinery, such as road graders, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, excavators and any other machinery.
Notwithstanding this description, the employee may be called upon to perform any other related tasks requested by his/her superior.
Who are we looking for?
To meet the job requirements, you must:
- Hold a valid driver’s license, minimum class 3 (manual transmission) and/or class 1 (major asset);
- Have experience as a heavy truck driver;
- Possess experience as a heavy equipment operator (an asset);
- Have experience in snow removal (an asset);
- Be able to work alone or as part of a team;
- Have good organizational skills;
- Be available to work overtime;
- Be fluent in French and English;
- Communicate easily and politely with citizens;
- Be resourceful;
- Demonstrate independence and good judgment.
What’s in it for you?
Salary and benefits for the position are governed by the current collective agreement, which is outlined below:
- Permanent, full-time position, 40 hours/week;
- Working hours Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to noon;
- Annual vacation in accordance with the current collective agreement;
- 14 paid holidays per year;
- Bank of 5 sick days and 5 flexible days;
- Group insurance after 6 months;
- 7.5% employer contribution to a pension plan, equivalent to the employee’s contribution, after 6 months;
- Competitive hourly wage starting at $31.86.
