Departure of Director General Pascal Smith
Council and administration members were informed on Thursday of the resignation of Town Director General Pascal Smith, effective April 25. Mr. Smith’s departure follows his desire to take up new professional challenges in the Montérégie region. Jonathan Fortin, current Assistant Director General, Clerk and Director of Legal Affairs, will act as Interim Director General until a new Director General is appointed. In announcing his resignation with emotion, Pascal Smith made a point of emphasizing how honored he had been to serve the Municipality and proud to guide such a committed and competent team. “Together, we have overcome major challenges and made significant progress, particularly in stabilizing human resources,” he said. “I leave office with the certainty that many important projects will continue to take shape and contribute to Sutton’s development. The energy projects, the development of new affordable housing projects, the upcoming library merger, the development of Calvary Church and, finally, the mountain water supply are all promising initiatives that will positively shape the future of your community. I am convinced that you have the municipal team in place to ensure that these projects see the light of day for the benefit of your citizens.” The Director General thanked the members of Council for their confidence, and the members of his administration for their dedication. The Town of Sutton, in turn, would like to thank Mr. Pascal Smith for his loyal and excellent service, and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
