Free outdoor cinema in Sutton this summer!
Since summer 2012, the Town of Sutton has been offering free family screenings of Cinéma en plein air, a unique and free experience. After several years in Parc des Vétérans, this summer event is moving to the École d'art de Sutton!
Open Air Cinema: new location, same concept!
With the aim of bringing all the outdoor cinema activities together in one place, the Town of Sutton has mandated the Sutton Shool of Art to host its four family film screenings. From now on, these film evenings will be held in conjunction with Nocturnes, the Shool of Art ‘s summer film event!
The Open Air Cinema screenings are free of charge and consist of two films in French with English subtitles, and two films in English with French subtitles.
Dates to mark in your diaries are Thursdays, July 3, 17 and 31, and August 7.
The detailed program of free films will be unveiled at the Sutton Shool of Art’s summer program launch on June 15 (see below).
Remodelling of the Nocturnes at the Sutton School of Art
Always with the aim of creating a memorable collective experience in an enchanting setting, the Sutton Shool of Art’s team invites lovers of the 7th art and their families to discover open air cinema in a festive and convivial atmosphere.
For this summer, a few changes have been made to the Nocturnes event: Sutton’s rendezvous for cinema from Quebec and beyond will now feature six evenings of outdoor film screenings on Thursday evenings, with the exception of the closing night, which will be held on a Saturday. Thanks to the mandate given to Open Air Cinema by the Town of Sutton and a partnership with the Knowlton Film Festival, these film evenings will all be offered free of charge.
Part of the Nocturnes program now includes the four Open Air Cinema screenings offered by the Town of Sutton, as well as two evening screenings in collaboration with the Knowlton Film Festival.
Dates to remember for the Nocturnes:
Thursday, June 26: launch of Les Nocturnes in collaboration with the Knowlton Film Festival. On the menu: live music with drummers, Creole supper on site and screenings of two engaging and powerful films: an animated short for children by Martine Chartrand and Le dernier repas, a feature film by Maryse Legagneur;
Thursdays, July 3, 17, 31 and August 7: Open Air Cinema family film screenings, offered free of charge by the Town of Sutton;
Saturday August 16 brings the Nocturnes to a close with auteur films, live music and special guests.
