Buy a Proximité card: a purchase that feeds everyone!

Last July, 35 Proximité cards—benefiting more than 75 people—were distributed to community members experiencing food insecurity. These cards enabled them to purchase fresh, healthy food from local producers at the Sutton market. Given the success of the initiative, we are currently launching a fundraising campaign for the solidarity purchase of new Proximité cards, which, thanks to additional donations, will finance the 2026 edition of the project.

As mentioned in a previous news item, the Proximité solidarity card project has several objectives: to improve access to fresh, seasonal food, to reduce the stigma attached to those benefiting from the basic project, and to support local producers.

Start contributing to the 2026 edition this Saturday!

With prices constantly rising, access to healthy, affordable, and locally sourced food is becoming increasingly difficult. To ensure the continuity of the Proximity Cards initiative in 2026, the community is invited to contribute. Residents participate by purchasing a Proximity card for themselves to use this September and October at the Sutton Market and by making a donation that will be used to fund the distribution of Proximity Cards to food-insecure individuals in 2026.

For your information:

  • $200 feeds one person for four months;
  • $300 feeds a couple for four months;

  • $500 feeds a family of four or more for four months.

Every donation counts! Thank you for participating!

Remember that the Proximité card allows you to buy fresh, healthy food at the Sutton Market from local producers of vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, and honey. Participating producers are: Les jardins de Tessa, Le potager Les nues mains, Le Rizen, la ferme la Radicelle, la ferme La Petite bergerie, Windy Rock Farm, and Miel Missiskoui.

Let’s join forces to support our neighbours and the local farms that feed us!
