Volunteer Week, April 19 to 25
This week, we are celebrating all our volunteers! In Sutton, the richness of our cultural, community, recreational and sporting environment contributes to the sense of pride and belonging of the Suttonnais and Suttonnaises. This strength is largely due to volunteer involvement, citizen solidarity and the desire to contribute to the well-being of the community.
For over 50 years now, the Fédération des centres d’action bénévole du Québec (FCABQ) has been celebrating volunteer involvement. This year, from April 19 to 25, Volunteer Week takes place under the theme Mission Bénévolat! Volunteers make a vital contribution to strengthening communities.
Volunteering in Sutton
Volunteering is a theme particularly dear to the heart of the Town of Sutton, which has deployed several actions in recent weeks to promote the recruitment, retention and recognition of volunteers. Starting this week, you can :
- Participate in “4@6 je m’implique taking place this Tuesday, April 21, at the CAB in Sutton, to bring together organizations looking for volunteers and people ready to get involved;
- See our new “Here, everything comes to life thanks to volunteers” posters , which identify places or organismes where volunteering makes a difference;
- Check out our new online volunteer bulletin board at sutton.ca/en/volunteering, where volunteer opportunities offered by organizations will be posted throughout the year.
In addition, the Town organizes an annual Volunteer Recognition Evening where recognized organizations have the opportunity to proudly acknowledge the contribution of their volunteers. A news item to this effect will follow.
Whether you want to meet new people, enhance your resume, put your knowledge and expertise to good use or simply feel useful in your community, you’ll find as many good reasons as opportunities to get involved here in Sutton!
