Electric bike parking comes to town!

On June 16, Danville hosted the official launch of the "Eastern Townships Velovoûte Network", an innovative regional initiative designed to encourage sustainable mobility, revitalize communities and welcome cyclists. Vélovoûtes are multifunctional structures, installed in the heart of the village and designed to meet the needs of today's cyclists. Sutton welcomed its first Vélouvoûte at the corner of Dépot and Pine streets.

Sutton is one of the first six municipalities to participate in this network. The initiative is in line with our local approach to active transportation. It is also in line with the values defended in the slow tourism project promoted by the Sutton Economic Development Corporation.

Our Vélovoûte is located on Pine Street, at the edge of the former Filtex site. It includes :

  • Electrical access for recharging electric bikes,
  • A secure rack for parking four bicycles,
  • Four practical storage compartments for personal belongings.

Every Vélovoûte in the network is accessible free of charge all year round. Users must have their own lock if they wish to use the storage lockers and, of course, their battery charging cable.

“For many people, being able to get around by bike significantly improves their quality of life. In addition to helping people stay in shape, this means of transport is environmentally friendly and allows them to observe nature. More and more electric bikes are finding their way onto our beautiful roads. They enable everyone to stay active for longer. The new station is a great asset for the citizens of Sutton and their visitors; it allows you to recharge your battery and park your bike in complete safety. I’m enthusiastic about it! How about you?
Sylvie Grégoire, President of the Sutton Quality of Life Advisory Committee

Where are the region’s Vélovoûtes?

Here are the locations, among the six participating municipalities, where cyclists will be able to benefit from these facilities:

  • At Smith Park, Danville,
  • At Serge Picard Park in Saint-Adrien,
  • On Pine Street in Sutton,
  • Along the Eastman bike path, near 407, rue Principale,
  • At the Bromont Tourist Information Office,
