Week Municipality – Did you Know that… (3)
Published on 17 September 2025
As part of Municipal Week from September 14 to 20, 2025, the Town of Sutton aims to highlight information of interest to all its citizens.
- Since 2024, the Town of Sutton has had a beautiful Architectural Guide “Architecture and Land Use Planning in Sutton” which lists 4 types of environments in Sutton, along with the landscape and architectural characteristics of each. The guide provides guidelines for any owner wishing to carry out a construction or development project in harmony with its surroundings.
- Several other support guides are available on our website to help you and facilitate your procedures for obtaining a permit or certificate: check them out!
- Great news: by this fall, a new online payment and application tracking system will make it easier to process several permit and certificate applications: information coming very soon!
- The revision of the Urban Plan, which began in January 2024, is nearing completion. After numerous public consultation stages, the adoption of the new Plan is expected to take place at the council meeting on October 1st.
- Environmental information capsules are available at all times on our website on topics related to the quality and preservation of our natural environments, such as water, which is a major concern.
- The town has 5 municipal parks: Goyette-Hill Park, Gagné Park, Veterans Park, Tartre Park, and Godue Park.
- Goyette-Hill Park, the largest, has most of our sports facilities. It includes: 1 municipal swimming pool, 2 soccer fields (1 small and 1 large), 2 tennis courts, 1 skating rink in winter that becomes a multi-functional concrete surface in summer for 4 pickleball courts or hockey alternately, 1 basketball court, 1 baseball field, 1 skateboard park.
- Let’s not forget the 2 pétanque courts located on Rosanne Cohen Square, Academy Street! They welcome many regulars and new players throughout the warm season.
- Gagné Park is currently being redeveloped to be a welcoming spot for children and adults alike: new play modules and river access are among the ongoing improvements, in addition to a cultural integration project that will be unveiled soon!
