Mount Echo fire – Updated Thursday at 4 p.m.

Today, the SOPFEU team of 6 ground firefighters and the helicopter pilot worked tirelessly to continue extinguishing the fire, which is deep in the ground.
The helicopter made around fifty rotations, both to drop water on the fire spots and to fill the portable pools on the summit, from which the firefighters sprayed with hoses.
There is still a lot of manual work to be done and, hoping that the helicopter will be able to continue flying, SOPFEU estimates that it will take at least another 48 hours to finish the job.
The trails and the entire area remain strictly closed.
