End of operations at the summit of Mont Écho: trails remain closed

Following the fire that broke out on October 13 at the summit of Mont Écho, the Public Safety Department, in collaboration with SOPFEU, wishes to inform the public that firefighting operations are now over. Trails, however, remain closed.

Thanks to the sustained efforts of municipal teams and the Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU), the fire has been brought under full control and completely extinguished. It no longer poses a risk to the area.

IMPORTANT: Please note that, at the request of the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), the Echo Mountain trails remain closed until further notice.

Before any outing, we invite you to check trail opening times on the Sentiers de l’Estrie website at www.sentiersdelestrie.qc.ca.

The Public Safety Department would like to thank SOPFEU, all those involved and the public for their cooperation during the operations.
