Western Street reconstruction site – Work Info for the next two weeks of October 21 and 28, 2024

The Public Works and Fixed Assets Department is pleased to inform you of the final work scheduled to take place over the next two weeks, between October 21 and November 1. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the 2024 Western Street reconstruction project will be completed by November 1!

In the southern parking lot of Goyette Hill Park: open; PLEASE NOTE that the parking lot will be closed on the day the second coat of asphalt is laid down (date to be confirmed).

In the northern parking lot of Goyette Hill Park: open.

The use of alternative parking remains recommended.

WORK COMPLETED

• Sidewalk and concrete curbs construction.
• Concrete pouring to connect driveways to sidewalks and curbs.
• Gravelling and final grading of Western Street.
• Construction of crossing strips for pedestrian protection.
• Paving of street (one coat) and Western Street/Route 215 intersection (two coats). PLEASE NOTE: second coat of street asphalt scheduled for Spring 2025.
• Paving of south parking lot: one coat (second coat to come).
• Planting in the islands and around the south and north parking lots.

WORK TO BE COMPLETED BY NOVEMBER 1

• Paving of south parking lot: second coat.
• Planting in the retention basins of the south and north parking lots.
• Planting in the street islands.
• Repairs to driveways and residents’ yards.

Work may be modified or cancelled due to operational constraints or weather conditions.
