Financial support programs for NPOs open on December 2

A new version of the NPO Recognition and Support Policy was adopted by the Municipal Council on August 7, 2024. At the next council meeting, on December 4, 2024, the new recognition statuses for non-profit organizations (NPOs), revised according to the Policy’s categories, will be adopted, and the organizations concerned will be informed individually of the financial support programs to which they now have access.

New financial support programs

The adoption of a new Recognition Policy has enabled the Town of Sutton to revise its two financial support programs offered since 2015. In nearly 10 years, the cultural, community life and recreational sectors have evolved, and the needs of both organizations and the public have changed. In response, changes have been made in the recognition approach, the key points of which are as follows:

• Financial support programs are accessible according to recognition category.
• The operations support program is extended from a 2-year to a 3-year commitment.
• The Town’s financial support is defined by agreements with the organizations.
• A discretionary budget is added for applications submitted outside the program submission periods. This funding will be the subject of another news item in March 2025.

How to submit an application

Application procedures, forms, criteria and guidelines for applying for financial support are available on the Town’s website under the tab Living Sutton/Support for organizations, (by field of activity of the organization:

• Support for Cultural Organizations
• Support for Recreation and Sports Organizations
• Support for Community Organizations

The application period for financial support is from December 2, 2024 to February 14, 2025.
