March 13 is National Positive Mental Health Promotion Day
At its March 5 municipal council meeting, the Town of Sutton adopted a resolution proclaiming March 13 National Day for the Promotion of Positive Mental Health. Initiated by the Mouvement Santé mentale Québec (MSMQ) and passed by the National Assembly in 2022 , this Day focuses on the importance of increasing and maintaining personal and collective well-being, and supporting resilience. March 13 marks the launch of the MSMQ's annual campaign, whose theme this year is "Se ressourcer, c'est trouver sa zone de recharge" (Recharging yourself means finding your recharge zone).
Together for good mental health!
According to the World Health Organization, there is no health without mental health. The Town of Sutton recognizes the importance of mental health to our collective well-being, and believes that municipalities have a key role to play in fostering the positive mental health of their populations, for example by breaking down isolation through activities, recognizing citizen involvement, and maintaining or developing green spaces.
National Positive Mental Health Promotion Day is a call to action for both the Town and its citizens, whether through small everyday gestures or through large projects that can create, develop and strengthen mental health. “Recharging yourself means finding your recharge zone” also means finding concrete ways to slow down your hectic pace to maintain good mental health.
