We announced its musical program on May 15: now we are unveiling the full program of activities for the Fête nationale du Québec, which will be celebrated in Sutton on June 24, starting at 1 p.m. in Goyette-Hill Park!

For a fourth consecutive year, the Corporation de développement économique de Sutton (CDES), the team from the Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department and the cultural organization Sutton Encore have put together a day of family entertainment, as well as an evening filled with musical discoveries.

Activities for the whole family

Our big summer gathering will take place from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, at Parc Goyette-Hill. To keep children entertained, a family zone will be set up on the event site to offer several activities:

  • from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the swimming pool and splash pad will be open.
  • From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., an inflatable game will be set up near the gazebo.
  • from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., a 9-hole mini-putt course for families and friends.
  • from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., our municipal day camp counsellors will lead friendly competitions.
  • from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., face painting will be available to brighten up the faces of children and adults alike.

At 5 p.m., attend the flag-raising and official speeches in presence of the mayor, councillors and general manager.

Musical evening

The Sutton Encore organization and its director, Vanessa Lauzon, have been mandated to ensure a lively musical evening, with three concerts of francophone music that will set the evening alight!

  • from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., opening act, Kim Albert, a Sutton artist;
  • from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., second act, Parazar, a Montreal rapper;
  • from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the evening’s headliner: the group Choses Sauvages.

To find out more, see the news item on the unveiling of the musical program.

Fireworks

The long-awaited traditional fireworks return at around 9:30 p.m. to round off the festive day in style!

Practical questions

Food and beverages

Following the success of the 2024 edition, street food trucks will be on site from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy Mountain View’s blooming onions, Oktoberfest sausages and blue cotton candy, as well as a menu of poutines from Festin Nomade.

You can quench your thirst with fresh lemonade from Mountain View, beers from the Bunker Room bar, unless you prefer a rum or gin from the Ungava company, or wine, white or red, from Vignoble Domaine Bresee.

Please note: not all merchants accept debit or credit cards, so we strongly recommend that you bring cash.
Please note: thanks to its Blue Community certification, the Town of Sutton prohibits the sale of plastic water bottles on the Fête nationale du Québec site. We therefore invite you to bring a reusable bottle to fill up at the on-site drinking water fountain.

Weather

Since we can’t predict the weather, we might announce – 24 hours before the festivities take place – any changes to the plans for the activities and their location, according to the two scenarios below. If so, we will announce it on the home page of the Town’s website, on the Town’s Facebook page and on Tourisme Sutton’s Facebook page.

In case of light rain:

  • The mini-putt, inflatable game, friendly competitions and face painting will be moved to the Sutton School gymnasium.
  • The flag-raising and speeches will take place under the stage tent.
  • Concerts will continue under the stage tent.

In the event of a storm:

  • The pool and splash pad will be closed.
  • The mini-putt, inflatable game and face painting will be set up in the Sutton School gymnasium.
  • Street food trucks will be moved to Veterans Park.
  • The flag-raising, official speeches and concerts will take place in the Alec and Gérard Pelletier concert hall at 4C Maple Street in Sutton.
  • Fireworks will be cancelled.
