Beware false inspections!

The Town of Sutton wishes to inform the public that the only people authorized and mandated to come to your home for an inspection are its own municipal inspectors, when applying for a permit, or its firefighters, as part of their fire prevention visits. In both cases, our employees will be clearly identifiable and will generally travel in a vehicle in Town’s colours. Like the MRC which has issued a notice, the Town of Sutton confirms that no mandate has been given to outsiders to check the condition of your dwellings. Furthermore, if one of our urban planning inspectors were to come and inspect the interior of your home, they would make an appointment with you and call you from the Town Hall. Stay alert! If someone comes to your home for an inspection : To check the names of our municipal inspectors: call the Urbanand Land-use Planning Department at 450 538-2290, option 1; or send an e-mail to [email protected]. To check the names of MRC inspectors: call the Service d’évalusation at 450 266-4900, ext. 1; or send an e-mail to [email protected]. To report fraud: Call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 (Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., except statutory holidays);Or report online. We thank you for your attention and recommend that you exercise prudence!
