Discover the power of writing in a calligraphy workshop!

Reproducing the delicate, meticulous gestures of medieval handwriting is an extremely stimulating activity on both the cerebral and artistic levels: you are invited to discover or deepen the art of beautiful writing in this Textura Calligraphy (Gothic script) workshop, offered at the Sutton Municipal and School Library as part of its winter activity program! Led by professional calligrapher Luc Saucier, this hands-on workshop will take place on Saturday, February 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. Deadline for registration is Thursday, February 6.

Proud of his 33 years of experience as a calligrapher and illuminator, Luc Saucier will give you invaluable advice on how to begin or affirm your exploration of the world of calligraphy, the art of beautiful writing.

During this 3-hour workshop, M. Saucier will introduce you to the history and traditional techniques of calligraphy. On the agenda: discovering the tools to use, handling the bevelled point that will be provided, the correct body posture to adopt and mastering the elegant shapes of the Textura Gothic alphabet.

Cost of workshop:
Sutton residents and homeowners: free
Non-residents: $10 + taxes
Materials included and provided by the artist.

How to register for the activity

The deadline for registration is 12 a.m. on Thursday, February 6.

We ask you to register via the AccèsCité loisirs online platform that we already use for summer sports and leisure activities. This system facilitates registration and online payment.

  If you already have an AccèsCité loisirs account, click here to access the platform. Then simply log in to your profile and click on the Register button to access the catalog of activities and select the choices that interest you. You will then be able to proceed to online payment if required.
• You must create an account
  If you don’t have an account yet, you can follow the procedure to create your user profile by clicking here. Once you’ve created your profile, you’ll need to wait a minimum of 24 hours to allow the Recreation, Community Life and Culture team to approve it. Then, log in to your account and click on the Register button to access the directory of available activities. Simply select the choices that interest you and proceed to payment, if applicable.
