Origin of Canada Day
Canada Day, celebrated every year on July 1, marks the official birth of Canada. It commemorates the Confederation of 1867, when the three British colonies – United Canada (now Ontario and Quebec), New Brunswick and Nova Scotia – united to form the Dominion of Canada. This day marks the beginning of modern Canadian history.
It’s a national holiday filled with festivities across the country. It celebrates Canada’s history, diversity and unity.
