Costly incivilities concerning collections
Significant damage was caused to our collection truck by construction materials that were illegally placed in a bin and blocked its compression plate. This disrespectful act forced us to immobilize the truck and conduct a major repair: this obviously costs taxpayers money, and also prevents us from providing service to other residents. We deplore this situation, which is repeated all too often, and we ask you to be more vigilant in sorting materials. Let’s respect the rules for our collective well-being! It is the responsibility of every citizen to comply with Article 17 of By-law No. 222 concerning the collection of garbage on the territory of the Town of Sutton (in French only). UNAUTHORIZED MATERIALS IN HOUSEHOLD WASTE BINS Materials not permitted in municipal bins must be taken to the Cowansville Écocentre: consult the Écocentre schedule and instructions at www.mrcbm.qc.ca/ecocentres. FINESWe remind you that anyone who deposits unauthorized materials in his or her bin is committing an offence and is liable to a minimum fine of $100 and a maximum of $2,000.In the case of a repeat offence, the minimum fine is $200 and the maximum $4,000.Fines are doubled for each subsequent offence. Thank you for your cooperation and good citizenship!
