REMINDER – Three workshops are being offered next week by the Sutton Municipal and School Library, as part of its spring programming: the 10-week “Drawing is seeing” workshop starting April 8, the Creative calligraphy workshop on April 12 and the Paper-making workshop for children on April 13. There are still a few places left, so sign up now!

We remind you that it’s essential to register for an activity offered by the city, even if it’s free. This is because we need to ensure that the costs incurred are justified, in the interests of sound financial management of municipal expenses. “Drawing is seeing” workshop with Diane Lambin

When: Tuesdays from April 8 to June 10, from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. (10 workshops)
What: The workshop, designed and led by Diane Lambin, invites you to explore the classic rudiments of drawing: shape of objects, scale, light, shadow… We draw mainly in black and white and shades of gray. Drawings can be enhanced with cut-out images.

Diane Lambin has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and is a Suttonnais painter and writer.

Materials to bring: Drawing book or multi-media notebook, 9×12 pc or 11×14 pc | 3 pencils (Staedtler or equivalent) 2B, 4B, 8B | 1 eraser | 1 scissors | 1 glue stick | cutting magazines

Cost: $100 + tax for residents | $150 + tax for non-residents

Creative calligraphy workshop with Luc Saucier

When: Saturday, April 12, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
What: Combine gesture and ink in this afternoon workshop with calligrapher and illuminator Luc Saucier (in French but all are welcome).

A versatile artist with a passion for history, Luc Saucier has been a member of the Société des calligraphes de Montréal since 1993, and has some 30 years’ experience in the profession.

Cost: free for residents | $10 + tax for non-residents

Paper-making workshop for children aged 6 to 12

When: Sunday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
What: Come and take part in an eco-friendly activity and make your own handmade paper! Discover the world of paper and make your own personalized paper (in French, but all are welcome).

April 22 is Earth Day! A great way to pay tribute to this special day.

Cost: free for resident children | $10 without for non-resident children
