In December last year, the Town of Sutton adopted the new Cultural Policy and its 2025-2029 Action Plan. To bring the ambition of these commitments to life, the municipal council has also allocated a budget of $50,000 per year. Last night, at its March 5 meeting, the council adopted a resolution to confirm the composition of the ten members of the follow-up committee for the Cultural Policy and its action plan. The Town will be represented by two members of the municipal council, a member of the general administration, the cultural agent, and the director of the Leisure, Community Life, and Culture department. Two organizations carrying out planned actions also have confirmed spots on the committee: the Sutton Economic Development Corporation and Heritage Sutton. In December last year, the Town of Sutton adopted the new Cultural Policy and its 2025-2029 Action Plan. To bring the ambition of these commitments to life, the municipal council has also allocated a budget of $50,000 per year.

Last night, at its March 5 meeting, the council adopted a resolution to confirm the composition of the ten members of the follow-up committee for the Cultural Policy and its action plan. The Town will be represented by two members of the municipal council, a member of the general administration, the cultural agent, and the director of the Leisure, Community Life, and Culture department. Two organizations carrying out planned actions also have confirmed spots on the committee: the Sutton Economic Development Corporation and Heritage Sutton.

Three positions remain to be filled on the committee:

  1. A citizen representative
  2. A representative of a recognized cultural organization
  3. An artist or artisan

Mandate of the committee members

The involvement required from the members of the follow-up committee is summarized as follows:

  • Attend and participate in 2 or 3 meetings of 3 hours each per year, focused on monitoring and evaluating the action plan of the Cultural Policy in light of the progress made and ongoing changes in the community.
  • Make recommendations on the evolution of the actions.
  • Act, when necessary, as a mobilization agent to encourage the participation of community members.
  • Facilitate the flow of information to community members.

Desired characteristics

  • Be a resident of Sutton.
  • Be an artist, artisan, or citizen and/or be involved in a cultural organization recognized by the Town
  • Have an interest in culture, the arts, and heritage;
  • Have a good knowledge of the Sutton cultural scene;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team;
  • Possess strong listening, analytical, and synthesizing skills.

Recruitment process

Candidates are asked to submit their name, postal address, and email address, along with a brief cover letter (maximum one page) by email to [email protected] by March 31, 2025.

The letter should mention the position being applied for among the three available (citizen, representative of an organization, or artist/artisan), as well as the applicant’s personal experience, interest, and motivation to participate in the committee.

For the position of representative of an organization, a resolution from the organization’s governing board authorizing the submission of the application on its behalf is required.
