The Town of Sutton has a new Assistant Director General!
At its meeting on July 2, the municipal council confirmed the hiring of Caroline Cusson as Assistant Director General | projects and community. She will start work on August 18.
Following the departure of Director General Pascal Smith last April, and the appointment of Jonathan Fortin as his replacement, the position of Assistant Director General (ADG), which he held in conjunction with his duties as Clerk and Director of Legal Affairs, had to be filled.
The recruitment mandate was entrusted to the Union des municipalités du Québec (UMQ), which offers professional human resources services to municipalities. The Town took the opportunity to redefine the position of ADG, which will henceforth be called ” Assistant Director General | Projects and Community “. Our new ADG will focus on major strategic and structuring projects affecting the community, such as affordable housing, major infrastructures and economic diversification, to name but a few.
After a rigorous selection process involving numerous candidates, Ms. Cusson came out on top, and the Town is delighted to welcome her. With over ten years’ experience in the municipal sector, notably as Director of Finance and Treasury for the Town of Brome Lake and Mayor of East-Farnham, our new ADG will bring all her skills and knowledge to complement, support and co-lead the administrative team. Ms. Cusson was recently awarded the Prix d’excellence in the Rayonnement local et régional category by the Corporation des officiers municipaux agréés du Québec (COMAQ) in 2025.

Ms. Caroline Cusson : “It is with great enthusiasm and pride that I take up the position of Assistant Director General | Projects and Community at the Town of Sutton. I am honoured to be joining a committed and dynamic team, serving an equally inspiring community. For me, this new challenge represents a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the development of promising projects, while strengthening ties with the citizens of Sutton.
I look forward to collaborating with you and putting my shoulder to the wheel to build together a sustainable, inclusive and innovative future for our beautiful municipality.”
Welcome to our new Assistant Director General!
