Third Free Open Air Cinema Screening on Thursday, July 31

As announced on June 13, our free, family-friendly Open Air Cinema screenings are taking place this year at the Sutton School of Art, as part of its Nocturnes. This third event, on Thursday, July 31, awaits you from 6:30 p.m. with a musical preview, a local short film, followed by the Quebec fantasy comedy “Vil et misérable”!

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Sutton School of Art is committed to celebrating local talent, fostering encounters with local film industry professionals, while highlighting original Quebec creations. The free family cinema evenings are made possible thanks to the mandate entrusted by the Town of Sutton and the collaboration of the Knowlton Film Festival.

6:30 p.m.: Doors open: explore your creativity at the Art Lab, grab a refreshment at the snack bar, enjoy the music.

7 p.m.: Musical preview by the group Les Éphémérides, a French-speaking folk duo exploring bluegrass and Americana.

8 p.m.: The Little Story of Westover Creek (FR, 24 minutes), a documentary by Étienne Benoit about this creek that had no name.

The Feature Film: Vil et misérable

9:00 p.m.: Vil et misérable (FR, 1 hr 55 min), a feature film by Jean-François Leblanc starring Fabien Cloutier and Pier-Luc Funk. The film is presented in its original French version with English subtitles.

Synopsis: Lucien is a gloomy, misanthropic demon who descended to Earth over 350 years ago. Finding refuge in his bookstore, his tranquility is disturbed by the arrival of Daniel, an enthusiastic human assistant. Together, they find themselves plunged into an improbable mission where they will try to save their bookstore.
