Time change this Sunday, March 8, 2026

We will move the clock forward on the night of Saturday March 7 to Sunday March 8, 2026: in other words, at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, it will be 3 a.m.. We will lose an hour's sleep, but we will gain clarity in the evening. Spring is just around the corner!

It’s also time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms!

Your Public Safety Department would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the precautions to take with your smoke alarms:

✅ Change the batteries in your smoke alarms every 6 months (when the clocks change is a good time to remember to do this!).
✅ During the year, if your alarm emits an intermittent  ???? sound signal, replace the batteries.
✅ Choose long-life batteries such as lithium batteries, or use rechargeable batteries only if they are recommended by the device manufacturer.
✅ Remember to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors when you move into a new home, and never paint over smoke detectors.
✅ Smoke detectors have a limited lifespan: you should replace them every 10 years.
