International Lifeguard Appreciation Day 2025: Thank You to Sutton’s Exceptional Aquatic Team!
On International Lifeguard Appreciation Day, Thursday, July 31, the Town of Sutton thank its summer aquatic team for their continued dedication and inspiration.
This day is the perfect opportunity to highlight the essential work of our aquatic team, which ensures the safety of swimmers every day, while creating a welcoming, dynamic, and safe environment at the municipal pool.

A Qualified Team
All our lifeguards, assistant lifeguards, and swimming instructors undergo rigorous training offered by the Lifesaving Society, an organization whose mission is to prevent deaths and injuries that occur on, in, or near water.
Thanks to the dedication of each team member, the pool is open 7 days a week for 8 weeks for free swims and lap swims.
In addition, our 5 instructors offer swimming lessons 5 mornings a week for children and adults. For children aged 3 months to 12 years, our swimming lessons are based on the Swim for Life program, which promotes safe and progressive learning. Aquaform, aquajogging, aquaHITT, and swimming styles classes for adults are offered 5 days a week.

Becoming a lifeguard changes lives. Becoming an instructor helps people grow!
A Committed Team
The 2025 aquatic team is made up of attentive, responsible, and experienced individuals who are passionate about their work.
“I love my job as a lifeguard because it allows me to stay active, be outdoors, and most importantly, ensure the safety of others.” Luc, Lifeguard
“What I like most about my role is the connection I build with the swimmers and the team spirit that unites all lifeguards.” Rébecca, Head Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor
“Between swimming lessons and supervision, I feel useful and respected. It’s motivating!” Tavli, Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor
“As a lifeguard, I am proud to be part of a committed team that allows citizens to enjoy a safe swimming space.” Simon, Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor
All these dedicated individuals play a key role in teaching people how to swim and raising awareness about water safety. They devote themselves to this cause every day, in addition to organizing special activities during National Drowning Prevention Week, which took place from July 20 to 26: information booths on Residential Pool and Open Water Safety and Supervising Children Around and In the Water, as well as a Lifeguard for a Day exercise.”
