Excellent results

A number of noteworthy initiatives have been implemented. To highlight them, a progress report has been prepared:

  Action plan progress report – 2024 review

It shows that, of the 65 expected results obtained, 85% have been achieved, or are in the process of being achieved, or are ongoing over several years. Only 10 of the expected results for 2024 have not been achieved.

Among the 2024 achievements are the following:

  • The addition of traffic calming measures on Western Street (action 1.1.1);
  • The addition of lighting on the bicycle path (action 1.2.2);
  • The revision of the NPO Recognition and Support Policy (action 4.1.1);
  • The organization of numerous intergenerational activities (action 5.2.1);
  • The addition of activities for each target group, such as snowskating, skateboarding and the creation of a collective mural with teenagers from the Maison des jeunes (action 6.1.2);
  • The integration of universal accessibility concepts into renovations and construction projects, including an access ramp to Goyette-Hill Park in the 2nd parking lot (action 7.1.1);
  • The acquisition of Calvary Church (action 7.2.1);
  • The construction of a new basketball court in Goyette-Hill Park (action 7.3.1).

In addition, certain projects that were not planned for 2024 have also been carried out:

  • The addition of new bicycle racks (action 1.1.3);
  • The addition of MTQ-approved pedestrian crossings at the corner of Maple Street and Principale South Street (action 1.1.4);

The efforts of an unwavering committee

The action plan follow-up committee is made up of members representing families and seniors in the community. Their role is, among other things, to monitor the action plan considering the progress made and ongoing changes in the community.

They met 3 times in 2024, and some are also responsible for carrying out initiatives.

For example, throughout the year, FADOQ Les Deux Monts held tablet and telephone technologie workshops at the Sutton Municipal and School Library. CAB Sutton continues to distribute its directory of resources for families and seniors, containing valuable information on the services available to them.

We continue in 2025!

In 2025, a number of actions will continue, while others will begin, including the following:

  • The identification of new active circuits and revision of existing ones (action 1.2.1);
  • The creation of gathering places (action 5.2.1);
  • The addition of adapted public toilets (action 7.1.1);
  • The deployment of outreach services within the territory (action 9.2.2).

In all, 21 objectives have been set for the year 2025: these will be broken down into 33 actions, which in turn will lead to 64 expected results.

The action plan remains an evolving process in which other expected results may be added. The follow-up committee, which will be meeting in the coming weeks to discuss them, will continue its diligent work.
